CAKE
This ensemble work for four interrogates sexuality, shame and respectability politics for Black women. CAKE points to the booty shaking childhood games we played while our mothers and grandmothers taught us what it is to be "lady-like." We consider how doing away with shame around our bodies can activate us to be constructive and create new, free realities.
